Crew films on Barry Island beach for Channel 4 cyber thriller

By Ellyn Wright 12th May 2021

A crew filmed at Whitmore Beach this morning for the upcoming Channel 4 cyber thriller 'The Undeclared War'.

The camera crew was seen on the shoreline and a scaffolding structure was placed in the sea, with actors jumping off into the water.

A sign informing those walking along the promenade that they may be filmed was displayed.

The filming project is called 'Darkness Rising', and the show stars Simon Pegg, Mark Rylance, Adrian Lester, Alex Jennings, Maisie Richardson-Sellers and newcomer Hannah Khalique-Brown.

Set in a post-pandemic 2024 in the run up to a British general election, 'The Undeclared War' tracks a leading team of analysts buried in the heart of GCHQ (the UK's version of the NSA) secretly working to ward off a cyber-attack on the country's electoral system.
