Council's 'pick-me-up' for residents: Free service for collections of leaves and fruit that have fallen on public land.
Vale of Glamorgan Council has introduced a free service for collections of leaves and fruit that have fallen on public land.
From today (Wednesday, 16 October) residents can book a free collection for leaves and fruit that have fallen outside their property online: https://www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/en/living/Recycling-and-Waste/Leaf-and-windfall-collection.aspx
The service will run until 13 December 2024.
Residents who already have a paid garden waste subscription can place leaves and windfall fruit in their garden waste bag on their usual collection day until 29 November.
From 30 November garden waste collections will be bookable for subscribers: https://www.valeofglamorgan.gov.uk/en/living/Recycling-and-Waste/Garden-Waste.aspx
Community groups and those wanting to plan a larger scale street sweep, can email [email protected] to discuss collection arrangements.
Cllr Mark Wilson, Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services and Transport, said: "Our cleansing team work hard to keep the pavements safe and clean all year round.
"But with a lot of ground to cover, they always welcome a little help.
"After piloting the scheme last year, I am delighted to see the collection service officially launch.
"I hope the scheme makes it easier for community groups and those residents who don't have a garden waste subscription to clear their roads."
