Cadoxton Rail Car Park Closures

Over the next couple of weekends, Network Rail and their principal contractor, Alun Griffiths, will reach a key milestone in the 'Access for All' project at Cadoxton station as they lift the newly built footbridge, lift towers and associated support columns into place.
To allow Network Rail engineers to safely carry out this work, the station car park will temporarily closed to all traffic on the 17 – 18 and 24 – 25 August to enable a crane to be located in it to lift all the elements of the new footbridge into place.
Throughout this crucial phase, the station will remain open to passengers and rail services will not be affected as the work will be carried out overnight.
However, as the car park will be closed, pedestrians will have to access the station via Little Moors Hill, not via Station Road.
Those with less mobility and passengers with prams will be able to access the station via Station Road and residents will still be able to access their garages situated in the car park.
A Site Access Controller will be situated at the road closure point to escort those with less mobility and passengers with prams to the station and residents to their garages.
A three-way traffic management system will be in operation at the junction of Station Road with Little Moors Hill so we can safely transport the crane and materials to site.
Rhys Howells, scheme project manager at Network Rail said: "We would like to thank passengers and the local community for bearing with us during these essential works.
"Once complete, the new footbridge and lifts will benefit those with reduced mobility as well as passengers with children, heavy luggage or shopping."
The £3million scheme is funded through the UK Government's 'Access for All' programme, with match funding from Welsh Government.
Network Rail engineers have also been carrying out essential track work at the station to replace sleepers and ballast, which the track sits on.
Heavy machinery, lights and generators were required to complete the track work which may have resulted in higher levels of noise and disruption to nearby residents.
This work on tracks will finish tomorrow, August 15.
The car park will be temporarily closed for the bridge lifts on the following dates and times:
• From 00.00 on Saturday 17 August to 05:00 on Monday 19 August
