A seven to eight mile walk from Barry Island has been organised to support the family of 10-month-old Reign Miller-Hardy, who is seriously ill with a rare medical disorder.

Reign was diagnosed with haemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) and X-linked lymphoproliferative disorder (XLP1) in early August and is currently being treated in Great North Children's Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The family are appealing for people to sign up to the bone marrow register in the hope they can find a match for Reign. The Welsh Blood Service will be present at the walk and has organised a stall to stimulate sign-ups.

Due to COVID restrictions, the baby's parents have to alternate visits to their son, who is undergoing intense chemotherapy to keep the illness at bay.

Reign's auntie, Lisa Evans, who organised the walk, wrote this in a Facebook post: "for anyone who would like to contribute to supporting Reign and his mum and dad what better way than to show how much the Barry community are behind them than joining me on the 6th September at 11am at Barry island to start a walk around Barry".

The walk will begin at 11AM. Donations should be addressed to Lisa Evans. You can join the register here:
