Barry is set to hold the town's first ever Pride event, it has been announced.

Following the success of Major Pride in neighbouring Llantwit Major last year, Barry Pride will take place on Saturday 21st September 2019 with an event on the High Street as well as across the town.

The event will be a day of fun for all the family and everyone is welcome to join and help celebrate our LGBTQ+ community.

The day, sponsored by Spectrum Collections who are originally from Barry and famous for their colourful make up brushes, will host live make up tutorials from instagram influencer and make up artist Ant Gorgeous.

There will also be a variety of music, entertainment, food and drink.

A window display competition will also be available for all businesses across Barry and everyone is invited to host an event throughout the day which will be included on a central map.

Event organiser Hannah Isted said: 'We are excited to be hosting this event for the first time in Barry after such a successful Major Pride. We hope that it will help to bring our community together by showing how inclusive the town is, and everyone is already really looking forward to the day!'
