Barry Wetherspoon expected to remain closed until April
Pub giant JD Wetherspoon says it expects its pub in Barry and elsewhere to remain shut until April as the coronavirus pandemic continues.
The company reports "zero" sales in 2021 so far, as all of its 872 pubs have remained closed since December 31.
Police warning to youths causing anti-social behaviour in Holton Road area
Officers in Barry are warning youths of how they are endangering themselves whilst causing anti-social behaviour in the Holton Road area as well as breaking Coronavirus rules.
PC Helen Kihlberg said: "A group of youths have persistently been committing anti-social behaviour on Holton Road in Barry by climbing business roof tops and free-running, which is not only breaking Coronavirus rules at present but is also putting their safety at risk.
Drivers in Barry charged £215 for permission to cross pavement to get to driveways
Drivers on several streets in Barry have been charged £215 for "permission" to drive across the pavement to get to their driveways.
Many residents of Heol Pantycelyn received a letter recently from the Vale of Glamorgan council, warning them crossing the pavement without permission could be illegal.
Some said they were surprised to receive the letter, as they had been driving across the pavements to park in their driveways for decades.
Holton Road HSBC set to close in September
HSBC on Holton Road is set to close on Friday 3 September as part of wider plans to shut 82 branches across the UK after a shift towards mobile and telephone banking.
The closures will be phased throughout the year, between 23 April and 24 September and bring the total number of branches to 511.
The bank says that even without the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic, the number of customers using branches has fallen by a third in the last five years.
