The Vale Council Leader has announced that car parks at country parks on Barry Island and other Vale coastal resorts will reopen for local residents only, from tomorrow.

The car parks were closed to reduce visitors to the Vale area whilst the coronavirus lockdown was in place.

Cllr Neil Moore, Leader of the Vale of Glamorgan Council, said: "From Saturday 20 June we will begin reopening the car parks at our country parks and coastal resorts, including Barry Island. Public toilets at these locations will also be reopened.

"These measures are being taken to allow local residents to use these facilities and to do so safely. The latest Welsh Government regulations and guidance continue to focus on staying local, and within five miles of your home."
