Barry Island was very busy yesterday with people flocking to the seaside to soak up the sunshine and Transport for Wales commented on packed trains today.

Yesterday they said: ''An estimated 20-25,000 people enjoying Barry Island today, NPT officers and Safer Vale have dealt with several missing children, persons with alcohol, lost and found property and drug offences."

Today Transport for Wales tweeted: ''Travelling home from Barry Island this evening? Please allow extra time for your journey and consider alternative means of transport if possible."

There is a Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) in place at Barry Island beach making it easier for police to deal with anti-social behaviour and drinking issues.

The Coastguards have been busy too with injuries and missing children over the past couple of days.

Today they said: ''Our team were tasked this morning to assist Whitmore bay RNLI lifeguards to an injured lady on the beach. The casualty had possibly dislocated her knee.

"Lifeguards and coastguard gave first aid and once comfortable stretchered off to promenade. was then assessed further by SW ambulance responder before being taken to UHW.

"As the team were packing up a second call came in from lifeguards of a missing 6-year-old. The child was found by South Wales Police team."
