Barry Coastguard was called out at 11.53 this morning along with the Penarth response team to help a woman stuck in the mud at the Old Harbour.

When Barry CRT arrived at the scene, South Wales Fire Service were leading the woman out of the area.

A Hazardous Area Response Team medic checked that the woman was safe and well.

"We ask people to be very careful near this area as mud can be deep and get you stuck very quickly," said Barry Coastguard.

Their advice is to:

- stay calm

- avoid moving too much

- spread your weight

- call 999 and ask for the Coastguard

- discourage people from coming to rescue you, as they may get stuck too
