Barry Coastguard officers were involved in the rescue of two people cut off by the tide at Temple Bay, Southerndown yesterday evening, alongside Llantwit Major Coastguard officers and the Porthcawl RNLI Lifeboat.

At 6.53pm, the teams were paged with rescue helicopter 187. Two Llantwit Major Coastguard officers winched over the cliff to the stranded people, while Porthcawl RNLI Lifeboat was on standby as safety cover.

One casualty was safely recovered up the cliff face, while the other along with a Llantwit Major rope technician was recovered by Coastguard helicopter from St Athan.

"Great team effort by all those involved," said a spokesperson.

"We urge people to check tide times when enjoying the Coast. In a coastal emergency dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
