A Wales Air Ambulance helicopter was seen landing at Victoria Park this morning (23/11/20) to assist in a nearby incident. The patient was taken via road ambulance to University Hospital Wales where they are receiving treatment.

A Cardiff-based "Rapid Response Vehicle" (a non-transporting medical assistance automobile) arrived in Barry to treat an unwell patient at 11:12 this morning.

At 11:54, the Dafen-based helicopter took off to offer assistance if necessary, arriving at Victoria Park at 12:22.

A number of residents reported hearing the aircraft as it began to land over Barry. Local photographer Paul Murphy was present in the park and captured footage of the helicopter's departure.

A spokesperson from Wales Air Ambulance told Nub News: "Following treatment from our medics, we escorted the patient in a road ambulance to the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff, leaving the scene at 13:11 and arriving at the hospital at 13:27. Our involvement concluded at 14:19."

The condition of the patient is currently unknown. The air ambulance used was marked "Children's Wales Air Ambulance" but Nub News have been so far unable to confirm whether a child was involved.
