17-year-old Named As Murder Victim in Barry Docks as Arrests are Made

A murder investigation is continuing following the discovery of a body at Barry docks yesterday.

Officers were called at around 5.50am yesterday, August 28, to Barry Intermodal Terminal, Wimborne Road, following the discovery of a body.

The body has been identified as that of 17-year-old Harry Baker from Cardiff.

His family have been informed and are being supported by family liaison officers.

Officers have arrested three men and one woman on suspicion of murder.

The three men aged 33, 36 and 47, from Barry, and the 38-year-old woman from Carmarthenshire, are currently in police custody.

Significant police enquiries are ongoing in the area and a number of cordons remain in place in Barry while investigations continue.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Mark O'Shea, Major Crime Investigations Team, said: "A young man has tragically lost his life and we have a dedicated team of detectives doing all we can to apprehend all those responsible.

'' Four people are now in custody and a number of cordons are in place in the Barry area while investigations continue.

"We are appealing for anyone who may have seen or heard a disturbance in the Cardiff Road and Ffordd Y Mileniwm area in Barry, sometime between midnight and 1am on Wednesday, August 28, to get in contact.

"We would very much like to thank the community for the support and information that has already been provided and would urge anyone else with information to please contact us."
