Last week, Luna the silver fox was caught in Barry after escaping from her owner.

After suffering a severe injury to her leg from being trapped in a snare, she lost her front left leg.

Hayley De Ronde, from Black Foxes CIC told Nub News that Luna is recovering well and has since been rehomed.

Luna is currently being kept separately from other animals as she was feral for some time, and needs to adjust, Hayley explained.

"She's settling in and being monitored closely until she can be adjusted.

"She's recovered well and is remarkably fit and strong in spite of her surgery," she said.

"Hopefully she'll settle nicely, as she's got a team of keepers looking after her."

Black Foxes CIC spent two weeks trying to rescue Luna, while a male fox also with a suspected leg injury remains loose.

"We're not sure how many there are," said Hayley.

"They can travel some distance, and originally were keeping in a small area but they've started going further.

"We believe there is at least the injured male seen around Asda, and the RSPCA caught one in Porthcawl that may have travelled there.

"There are unconfirmed reports of another female in Porthcawl.

"The law around foxes is very complicated. I'm glad the RSPCA is also able to deal with the situation now," she said.
