South Wales Police are looking to speak with two men in connection with graffiti in Barry and Penarth.

They were seen on camera using spray cans to graffiti the tag 'SOSO' in the Holton Road of Barry area during the evening of Thursday 13 May.

This tag and others including 'BBS' and 'DESSO' have damaged a number of properties this month.

One shop owner, who asked to remain anonymous, said their Holton Road premises were vandalised with graffiti during the first lockdown.

"It's like people are forgetting about the town centre," the shop owner told Nub News.

"I've seen lots of shops disappearing over the years, and this gives us a bad name.

"I've always been proud to live in Barry, but now I see all of this, and it does give a bad impression.

"It makes the good people of Barry feel ashamed."

Speaking on the graffiti on Holton Road, Cllr Ian Johnson said getting the graffiti removed as quickly as possible was a priority.

"Both Barry Town Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Council are highly invested in improving our town centres and this just brings down the tone in general," he said.

One of the suspects South Wales Police are looking to speak to is around 5ft 6ins tall wearing a dark blue coat and mask.

The second was taller and was wearing an olive-coloured coat and mask.

The cleaning of the graffiti has caused considerable expense for the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

"Graffiti is a real blight on our community, and we hope that members of the public can help us to identify those responsible for this damage," said SWP.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact South Wales Police or @Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. Quote reference: 2100167550."
