Two fishing boats, which have been docked in the Old Harbour in Barry, have been broken into with expensive equipment stolen from them yesterday afternoon.

The red and blue boats have been the subject of much local discussion as photos have flooded in of the unusual sight.

A local resident said that they had not seen boats like this moored in the old harbour for many years.

The owner of the boats has appealed for any information about the stolen goods in a social media post.

Lauren Wicks posted on Beautiful Barry and said: ''Someone has broken into my boats at the Old Harbour and I have had some of my fishing equipment stolen yesterday [3.8.2020] afternoon between 2 pm and 4.30 pm.

"I would appreciate if anyone has any information that they get in contact."

"The box they have taken (filled with expensive equipment) is quite eye-catching as it has a bright green band at the top so if anyone had seen this at the beach please get in touch.

"Or, if anyone saw anything suspicious around these times. Any information would be appreciated.

"A couple of rods have also been taken so, again, not easy to miss people walking along the beach with rods and a big box.

"Thanks in advance I’m hoping the power of Facebook and this amazing page that has already shown me such amazing support that I can get my stuff back."
