The Vale of Glamorgan Council and its developing partners recently met to sign an updated version of the Affordable Housing Partnership Guide.

Representatives from the council's Housing Department, Hafod Housing, Newydd, United Welsh, Wales and West Housing all met to sign the new agreement, which was last signed over ten years ago.

The guide establishes an agreed approach to how they will work together. It represents a statement of commitment between the partners, setting out how affordable housing will continue to be planned and developed in the Vale.

It details how the partnership will work; what is expected of each partner and the responsibilities and behaviour expected of each partner in order to maintain a well-functioning partnership.

Through its Local Housing Strategy, the Council will work as the strategic lead and enabler for ensuring a well-functioning housing market, continuing its work to meet the demand for housing in the area.

Mike Ingram, Head of Housing and Building Services said: "We have seen development flourish in the Vale of Glamorgan, with hundreds of new homes being delivered for social rent and many more made available through the Aspire2Own shared equity scheme.

"We are honoured to have played our part in delivering these high-quality homes for people across the Vale. The Waterfront is a shining example of the regeneration work that will help give Barry a brighter future, attracting businesses and jobs.

"We are also pleased that the Council's Development Team is now one of the partners listed in the Partnership Guide, as the Council is now building its own new council housing, helping to meet the ever-increasing demand."
