Heightened Police Response After Incident in Barry Town Centre

Images have emerged of an incident in the centre of Barry where police and other emergency services rushed to the scene.

It happened this afternoon (Monday, 16 December) when an area of Holton Road was cordoned off by police.

Armed officers are reported to have attended the incident alongside members of the ambulance service.

There has been widespread speculation about the nature of the incident, with some comments on social media suggesting a stabbing took place but this has not been confirmed.

South Wales Police have issued a statement: ''We are at the scene of an ongoing incident on Holton Road, Barry. Emergency services were called to the scene at approximately 4pm.

''Armed officers have also been deployed in support of divisional units.''
