Final bags of litter cleared from Dock Station pathway by volunteers

Local News by Ellyn Wright 23rd Apr 2021

The build-up of litter along the pathway to Barry Dock station has now been completely cleared.

Ian and Hayley Howell have spent an hour almost every day for the past month clearing the rubbish from the path and surrounding bushes.

The couple were motivated to clean the area because they regularly walk through it.

Yesterday, on World Earth Day, the couple completed their mission.

"Being World Earth Day, we are celebrating this by having the last 11 of 36 bags of rubbish removed by the Vale of Glamorgan Council," said Ian on social media, thanking everyone for their support.

"We would like to thank all the volunteers who have helped clean litter from the site, also Tony Spears and the crew who sorted out the removal of all the bags.

"We shall continue to do litter sweeps through the site on a regular basis."

Many residents have joined the couple to clean up the rubbish, maintaining social distancing and limiting numbers to do so.
