Where does Barry rank in the UK's nicest places to live?

Property consultant Garrington have published a list ranking 1,372 cities, towns and villages in the UK based on how nice they could be to live in following the Coronavirus pandemic.

Each area has been ranked based on factors including their natural beauty, quality of life and architectural beauty.

Natural beauty: Each location was scored for its proximity to open water, National Parks and Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Architectural beauty: Marks were awarded for the number of listed and period homes, as well as modern ultra-energy-efficient homes.

Quality of life: Each area was ranked for its air quality, crime figures and how many farm shops there are within a three-mile radius.

So where does Barry rank in their list?

Barry has placed at number 493rd overall out of the 1,372 areas that were analysed.

The town placed quite low in terms quality of life, coming in at 1057th, but placed much higher in the other categories.

The town's natural beauty rank was 585rd, and came in 336th place for architectural beauty.

The report also revealed that the average family home in the town costs up to £350,000, giving it a rank of 198th out of the 661 areas in the same price band.

Elsewhere in the Vale of Glamorgan, Llantwit Major was ranked 505th, Cowbridge 509th, Penarth 563rd and Rhoose 1212th.

The report claimed the nicest place to live in the whole of the UK was Bath, with the rest of the top 5 being made up by Tenby, Bradford on Avon, Ilfracombe and Canterbury.
