Barry Blood Donation Information During Coronavirus

By The Editor

Barry Residents are encouraged to give blood when the donation centre is available in the area next week amid the pressures of coronavirus on the services.

Welsh Blood has pleaded with the public to continue donating amid the coronavirus pandemic and confirm it is deemed essential travel.

Barry will be one of the regional donation hubs that will host sessions for five consecutive days instead of the usual one day visit.

Blood collections in Wales are currently 30% down on usual levels.

Blood stocks in Wales are currently healthy as the reduction in collections activity has matched the reduction in hospital demand for blood but the service is pressing for people to continue donating.

The blood service will be at Highlight Park Community Centre on the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th of April 2020.

During the Pandemic the blood service is unable to take walk-ins, so please book via the link. Blood Donation is classed as essential travel.
