Barry Coastguard Rescue Team is made up of 11 Volunteer Coastguard Rescue Officers. The team is on permanent standby to respond to any incidents tasked by a Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre in Swansea. We are equipped to carry out coastal searches, cliff rescue and mud/water and on scene coordination of incidents.
Her Majesty's Coastguard is responsible for the initiation and co-ordination of civil maritime search and rescue within the United Kingdom search and rescue region. This includes mobilization, organisation and tasking of adequate resources to respond to persons in distress at sea, or to persons at risk or injury or death on cliffs or shoreline of the United Kingdom.
