The Grange play area in Wenvoe is set to be transformed following a £90,000 investment by Vale of Glamorgan Council.

A host of new equipment, featuring a nature and woodland theme, will replace the old deteriorating facilities and be suitable for a broad age range.

Features include a Spinner Bowl, Toddler Multiplay Unit with Steel Slide, Picnic Tables and Junior Swings.

Funding for the work has come from Section 106 contributions, secured by the Council from nearby building developments.

Work on the play area recently got underway and is due for completion by the end of February.

Such redevelopment is part of a widespread programme of work to improve play areas across the County.

Facilities at King George V Playing Fields in Llandough and the Murch in Dinas Powys are among those to be upgraded over the next couple of months.

Cllr Kathryn McCaffer, Vale of Glamorgan Council Cabinet Member for Leisure, Arts and Culture, said: "This work at the Grange will transform an outdated play area into a modern space full of the latest equipment suitable for children of a variety of ages. Outdoor play is so important to our children and every play area that is updated is supporting our children's development.

"This is part of a substantial programme of work that has seen play areas across the Vale upgraded over the last few years and The Grange is just one of a number that is undergoing such treatment at the moment."
