BARRY Island 2k Santa Fun Run and Doggy Dash is back this year but the clock is ticking for residents to sign up to take part.

The event which takes place on the Promenade is taking place on Sunday 8 December but registrations have to be in by 29 November.

The fun-packed day is described as a perfect event for all the family to get involved in and a great way to begin the countdown to Christmas.

Split into two parts, the Santa Fun Run will begin at 11 am, with the Doggy Dash starting at 11.15am.

Dogs will only be allowed to participate in the Doggy Dash.

Adults are £6, children free and dogs are £2.40.

All adults will receive a Santa Suit to complete the course in and all participants will receive a goody bag and medal.

The council is particularly encouraging younger participants to join in fancy dress (and take part in the fancy dress competition.)

You can register and find out more by visiting the council's fun run site by clicking the red button below.
