Master Mariner Wins Vale's Parliamentary Pub of the Year

The Master Mariner has been crowned as the Vale's parliamentary pub of the year.

They were voted to the top by the public after being nominated by Alun Cairns for the competition.

Eleven pubs were put forward to take part in Alun Cairns' Parliamentary Pub of the Year competition.

The Master Mariner celebrated receiving on their Facebook page.

''So after the hardest year the pub has had, we were nominated for best parliamentary pub of the year.

''I'm so happy to say we won. A massive thank you to everyone who voted for us we are so overwhelmed with how many votes we had.

''The biggest thank you to Abby Germon who campaigned to keep our pub open and has tirelessly voted, begged and shared to make this happen.

''You can see how happy she is hearing the news. We as a community have relentlessly fought for this pub and we are a community and proud to be.

''Thank you Thank you Thank you.''

Alun Cairns stated: ''Delighted to announce that the Official The Master Mariner has won the public vote and is the Vale's Parliamentary Pub of the Year 2019. They thoroughly deserve it after the huge community effort to save the pub from closure this year. The Master Mariner represents what it is to truly be a local community pub.''

The pub has now won the Vale's parliamentary pub of the year and will go on to compete against pubs from across the UK in the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Pub's nationwide competition.

Four Elms, in Cardiff, won the award in January of 2019. They became the first pub to ever win the prize.
