There were cuddly toys galore at Hafod's annual Teddy Bears Picnic which welcomed over 30 children to Gladstone Gardens in Barry along with their parents and their favourite fluffy friend for lots of outdoor fun.

Organised by Hafod's Vale Vulnerable Families support team, the family event in its third year reached its highest numbers yet with last week's picnic.

The fun-packed day saw the children jumping together on the bouncy castle, playing in the ball-pit and soft play area and having their faces painted, amongst many other activities.

Local community support officers from the neighbourhood police team also joined in with the action, chatting with the children and handing out stickers.

With teddy bears and picnic blankets at the ready, attendees tucked into their picnic bags provided by Hafod which included sandwiches, fruit and treats.

The picnic provided an exciting day out for children who, due to a range of circumstances, don't always have access to things like days out or the opportunity enjoy themselves and play in the sun.

Kelly White, Senior Support Worker, organised the event and commented on how worthwhile these events have become to the families they support. She said: "The family picnic helps our most vulnerable customers in more ways than one, as it brings the families we support together to have fun in a relaxed and safe environment where friendships and peer support is formed.

"Every year we see how much joy this event brings to everyone's faces, with this year being our most successful yet.

''Our highlight of the day was the water fight between children and support workers, which left everyone soaked from head to toe with huge smiles on their faces."
