Barry's famous tribute act festival has been cancelled due to the uncertainty of coronavirus, the organisers have announced.

The weekend of entertainment was due to take place in July but will now be rescheduled for 2021.

Mack Events said: ''We have been closely monitoring the situation surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak and the guidance issued by the Government.

''We apologise for the delay in making a final announcement but have been holding out for as long as possible, sincerely hoping that the situation may improve and exploring ways that our events could safely take place as scheduled at the end of July or possibly later in the summer.

''Sadly, with the event now just 12 weeks away and government guidelines suggesting that no large outdoor events should be taking place for the foreseeable future, we have regrettably decided that both GlastonBARRY festival and GlastonBARRY

''Juniors will have to be postponed as we do not feel there is an option to proceed as normal and safely deliver the event in 2020.

''GlastonBARRY Juniors will be rescheduled for Friday the 23rd July 2021, and GlastonBARRY festival will take place on Saturday the 24th and Sunday 25th July 2021.

''We know that this announcement will cause a lot of disappointment, which we share and completely understand, GlastonBARRY Tribute Festival and GlastonBARRY Juniors are all about welcoming people from near and far to the beautiful town of Barry for a friendly, fun-filled weekend of live music.

''We look forward to doing that again in the future, but for now the priority must be the health and safety of our customers, event staff, volunteers and the wider public.

''All tickets purchased will carry over to the new event and will remain valid. If you have ordered your tickets online you do not need to do anything at all, your details remain on our system and your new tickets will be posted out automatically in the future.

''If you have purchased physical tickets for the events from one of our retailers then please keep hold of these tickets as they will remain valid for the rescheduled events.

''These are unprecedented and unforeseen circumstances and we would greatly appreciate your support and understanding at these difficult times.

''We will do our utmost to make the festival in 2021 the biggest and best festival to date.

''As a thank you for your support we will also be adding one of our most popular headline acts to the GlastonBARRY bill for the rescheduled event.

''Further announcements on the revised festival will follow in the coming weeks. For more information please see the FAQ PAGE.

''We hope you are all able to keep safe and healthy at these strange times and our thoughts remain with those directly affected by COVID-19 and the family and friends of those who have sadly passed away.''
