Barry Town Council is looking to establish a Youth Council, following the success of "Barry Youth Action".

The award-winning partnership project between Barry Town Council and the Vale of Glamorgan Youth Service, worked to ensure the views and ideas of young people were listened to and taken into account when decisions that affected their age group were made.

The Youth Council would include children and young adults between the ages of 11 and 18, who would like to make a difference to the lives of young people living and working in the town, while also learning new skills and meeting new people.

"Young people's voices need to be heard now more than ever, especially as we begin to look towards a new "norm" post-Covid and tackle any other issues that are directly affecting young people in Barry," the council wrote online.

"If you are aged between 11 and 18 years old and would like to learn more, please contact our Community Engagement Officer [email protected] or message us directly through our social media channels.

"Please note that by requesting more information you will not be committing yourself to joining the Youth Council – we want you to have as much information first so you can make the best decision for you."
