Over the weekend, police officers and Vale Council Enforcement dealt with numerous breaches to the coronavirus lockdown in Barry.

Saturday saw four males caught out as they were about to start fishing at Rhoose Point.

The Vale Council Enforcement team said: ''Males have been spoken to and warned that breaching this by-law will result in an on-the-spot £100 Fixed Penalty Notice being issued to each.''

Police officers also spent over two hours clearing groups of sunbathers from Whitmore and Jackson's Bay that day.

They said: ''Remember sunbathing or swimming are not acceptable activities under the COVID regulations. The rules keep us all safe.''

On Sunday Barry's policing team moved on several vehicles from the area, who were visiting the beach, despite the road closures.

They said they were thanked by local residents during their patrols.
