Police have warned residents of Barry and visitors to ensure they are keeping to COVID and local authority regulations over the hot weekend.

They said: "Barry Neighbourhood Team patrolling a very busy Barry Island today.

"Please be mindful of social distancing and do not bring alcohol to the beach. As part of the PSPO in place."

With temperatures set to stay high over the rest of the weekend it is likely the area will continue to attract high visitor numbers.

Current Welsh Government regulations state: "Gatherings of up to 30 people are now permitted outdoors. But you should continue to maintain physical and social distancing from people outside your household, or extended household if you have formed one."
